When OCL approached YLB to produce a product launch video for the Kwyet Sphere, we were immediately drawn to the beauty and complexity of the product, which our Visualization Team was dedicated to bringing to life through 3D animation.
Project Overview
The YLB team recognized that the Kwyet Sphere would demand a thoughtful approach to rendering in order to portray a real-life, colorful felt material that accurately reflected the material’s tangible characteristics. This presented an opportunity to push our internal toolset further, experimenting with new 3D techniques to best communicate the product’s depth and detail.
Creative Direction
To refine our direction, we consulted with Brad Glotfelty, OCL’s Marketing Manager, who described the desired tone of the video in three words: “Confidence. Cool. Happy.” These guiding terms helped shape the pacing, mood, and overall style of the final animation. Our team explored ways to reflect these emotions without overshadowing the product itself, balancing design restraint with moments of visual energy.
Animation & Material Development
Bringing the Kwyet Sphere to life required careful attention to surface realism and animation timing. The felt material was digitally recreated to appear soft, tactile, and true to life. Lighting scenarios were tested to ensure accurate color reproduction across the product’s full palette.
For motion, we adopted a fast-paced cutting style paired with an upbeat audio track to reinforce the “cool and confident” tonal direction. Each scene was designed to reveal a specific attribute – material quality, structural geometry, or product variation – without feeling repetitive or overwhelming.
Outcome
The final launch video delivered a clear and polished representation of the Kwyet Sphere, dovetailing the pendant’s intrinsic character and capabilities with OCL’s creative vision and product goals. The OCL team shared that the finished piece exceeded expectations, and the YLB team was proud to have been part of such a fun product launch!
